Hoa Binh District is one of the seven administrative units of Bac Lieu Province, located in the south of the province, about 20 km from Bac Lieu City. Established in 2007 after being separated from Vinh Loi District, Hoa Binh covers more than 400 km² and has a population of roughly 90,000, where the Kinh, Khmer and Hoa ethnic groups live together in harmony.
Geographically, the district borders the East Sea to the east, giving it a strategic position for developing the marine economy and aquaculture. Hoa Binh’s economy is mainly based on agriculture, high‑tech shrimp farming and offshore fishing, while gradually expanding into services and trade. Several rice‑shrimp and eco‑shrimp farming areas in the district are viewed as sustainable economic models in the face of climate change.
In terms of culture and tourism, Hoa Binh is famous for ancient Khmer pagodas such as Hoa Binh Pagoda (Serey Pothi) and Giong Nhan Pagoda, along with traditional festivals rich in ethnic identity. In addition, the coastal road running through Hoa Binh is expected to become a corridor for marine eco‑tourism and spiritual tourism.
With its agricultural and fishery potential combined with cultural tourism, Hoa Binh District is steadily developing in a sustainable direction, contributing to the overall growth of Bac Lieu Province.
